Bio
Doris Tinsley Nadel paints with passion the expressions of her life experiences with positive negative space, color, form and texture. Her paintings illuminate positive vibe expressing powerful energy with vibrant colors and strong sculptured brush strokes. Tinsley Nadel’s interplay with positive negative space creates multiple images as an illusion of images within the images engaging a viewer on multiple levels of energetic movement. Each painting has a different level of energy and movement, speaking to an individual in a unique way. She would like viewers to see the world through the window of her eyes in a positive perspective, be inspired, empowered, feel the energy and uplifted by the expressions of her life journey through her art.
She began painting during her childhood using oils on canvas painting landscapes, flowers, animals and won awards for her paintings. In college studied architecture, art history, figure drawing, water color painting, commercial art, marketing and business. After college she focused on professional marketing/sales business career while painting in her spare time. While working at an internet start-up company Broadcast.com in 1995 she was inspired by the creative tech environment and began exploring painting minimalist abstract style in acrylic medium on canvas. During early 2000 she worked with children at Crossroads Interfaith Housing Program (domestic violence program) and the children inspired her when working with them on art projects to help build their self-esteem. Tinsley Nadel believes children can build self-esteem and confidence through art and she curated an art exhibition with the children’s art along with her paintings. The art exhibition was featured on local ABC news “Artist and Pint-Size Picassos”. She has exhibited her paintings in solo art exhibitions, group art exhibitions, curated her own solo art exhibition, business building lobbies, corporate offices, hotel, art fairs and sold paintings over the years. She recently left her professional business career to focus on her artwork expanding her acrylic painting series, creating new painting series and experimenting with other mediums such as color pencil drawings, digital drawing and video.
“Painting my emotions, impressions and life experiences with images, positive negative space, color, form and texture is my way of expression. Connecting to a blank canvas with thick brush strokes of paint takes me into another place tapping into the colored shapes and images dancing around in my head resulting in a painting that expresses and transfers vibrant energy of movement on canvas. Feel the energy of the vibrant colors, textured brush strokes and powerful dynamic energetic sensation of motion. I want to connect with viewers visually and emotionally to share a light of empowerment with a positive perspective and share with others my interpretation of life where one can identify, be touched, empowered, uplifted, feel the energy, be transported to another place and bring some joy to their lives.”
